This extension to the existing Granville Island Hotel proposes new floating units
on the water in False Creek. The boatel layout provides for eleven 4-unit
buildings sited to maximize views for the guest rooms and the public. The plan
incorporates several lagoons which create water open spaces with the central
lagoon providing a public float for gondolas that tour False Creek. The large
units feature single-storey, and 2-storey with loft layouts.

This design provides for 45 residential berths for boats and floating homes with a
common building for communal activities and utility functions such as laundry,
showers, and workshop. The existing residents worked together to secure a lease
from a developer in order to maintain their floating lifestyle and to ensure that
they would not be displaced by new development.
