Chernoff Thompson Architects design a number of custom private homes each year. Each of these homes is a unique response to the needs of the owner and the site.

This home is on a large lot in Coquitlam. The lot was re-contoured to take advantage of sun and view. The four bedroom house also contains a music room and sculpture studio.

A dramatic house for a potter and artist inspired by the "modern" period of the 30's, combined with New Mexico influences. All rooms open in terraces onto a central atrium. The colours are white, natural maple, black and sea mist green. The house features a media room, pool room and office/studio as well as three bedrooms and three and a half baths.

This home is sited on a south east facing rock outcrop in West Vancouver. The house was placed to maximize sun exposure on the decks while retaining the existing trees on the site. The upper floor has a large master suite with deck and hot tub. The main floor is an open plan, with separate "greenhouse-gazebo" and media room.

A traditionally styled home in a new subdivision on the slopes of Grouse Mountain. The difficult site required significant re-contouring to provide grade access at the garage and the south facing patio while allowing doors and windows to the basement recreation area.

This is a very contemporary home designed in the modern idiom. With clean contemporary lines and a very open plan it provides comfortable living space very open to the surrounding gardens.

This home, designed for a couple from England, combines contemporary west coast forms with traditional influences. The traditional shingle roof meets glazed skylight and projecting elements to create a complex geometry. The house is on a steeply sloping site and sits high on the site for excellent water views throughout the home.

This home on a sloping water view lot in Belcarra has a very open floor plan with excellent views from all rooms. A very high sloping ceiling rises to a peaked skylight over the open central stair and bridge to upper bedrooms, which provide views throughout the house. The house incorporates green concepts including an integrated greenhouse and heat pump heating.
