Island Farm Dairies
VICTORIA, B.C. The new Island Farms Dairies cold plant in Victoria provided a new major cold storage space including a spiral freezer, a major receiving and delivery space along with packaging. The building consisted of a precast tilt up concrete structure with metal cladding treatment and industrial and worker connections to the existing area. (JGA) |

Illuminations Lighting Solutions
VICTORIA, B.C. The owner of this project frustrated by not being able to find suitable light fixtures for their home renovation project in the local market bought a local lighting retail company, changed its name to Illuminations and proceed to develop one of the largest lighting showroom facilities in North America. A renovation of a disused vegetable storage and shipping facility was undertaken to accommodate the retail and warehouse functions — the old truck loading bays became the main entrance with new ramps and steps and the cavernous interior space transformed into a “black box” for displaying the fixtures. Although not all the design elements were realised the bold colours and signage identifies the building from its industrial neighbours. (JGA) |
