Surrey Centre for Child Development Opens New Wing

December 7, 2015

The Centre for Child Development in Surrey, BC, has opened a new Child Care wing for children with special needs. This new space can accommodate 52 children for its’ programming: childcare services for 12 toddlers and 25 children aged 3-5 as well as a preschool for 20 children.

The project also included the relocation of the Communication Therapy wing. This wing will help children with special needs learn to “find their words” with the aid of iPads, pictures, and sign language.

Funding for the childcare space was partially provided by the Government of BC, and the new upgraded Communication Therapy wing was partially funded by Variety – The Children’s Charity.

The wing was designed by Chernoff Thompson Architects and built by RAM Construction Inc. The Centre for Child Development - with facilities in Surrey, Langley, Delta and White Rock - currently serves 2,700 children with special needs.
